For their September show, In the Life visits the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival on its 10th anniversary, with a look at its kick-off feature, "Ask Not," about the impact of the U.S. military's ban on gays in the armed forces.

The clips from the movie are wonderfully compelling, and the interview with Director/Producer Johnny Symons brings new insight to the film.

transwomenofcolor.gifTransgender Women of Color are rarely seen on reality television, as are LGBT People of Color.  But two African-American transgender women are changing that and making history and breaking barriers on reality television this season.

When America's Next Top Model starts in September, Isis will be competing along with the other women.  Isis is the first ever transgender contestant on the popular reality show.  And even though the show has yet to begin, Fox News has already started with the inappropriate and ill-informed commentary

steven1.gifSteven Diagle is a geographic consultant by day and a rodeo cowboy by night; but currently he's one of 12 remaining contestants on the CBS reality show Big Brother.  His stay may be brief however, as he is one of two guests nominated for possible eviction this week.

Diagle is a champion bull rider in the gay rodeo circuit. He attended the Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX as well as the University of North Texas in Denton. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in General Agriculture/Marketing and lists graduating from college as his proudest accomplishment. He also worked on a master's Degree in Applied Geography. In the past, he has hauled horses across the country, taken people on horseback riding treks in the Colorado Rockies and served as a camp director at a children's camp.

abc1.gifThe Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) today released its second annual GLAAD Network Responsibility Index, a report that maps the quantity, quality and diversity of images of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people on television. Once again, primetime programming on the five broadcast networks was evaluated and, for the first time, original primetime programming on 10 of the highest-rated cable networks was examined as well.

ABC, with shows like Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty, again received the highest ranking of the five broadcast networks; NBC and Fox remained the two lowest-scoring networks, with their LGBT-inclusive hours dropping slightly from the previous season. Among the sampling of cable networks evaluated, FX featured the largest number of LGBT-inclusive hours of original programming, while TNT offered the fewest.

dccowboys1.gifWashington DC's Gay Dance Troup The DC Cowboys appeared on the NBC reality show America's Got Talent showing the judges they've got it to make it to the next round of the talent competition.

Metro Weekly magazine has described the Cowboys' style as a "trademark combo of Broadway-caliber verve, sizzling sex appeal, and rugged good looks."

Marcellas ReynoldsI've been a fan of Marcellas Reynolds since I first saw him  on Season 4 of Big Brother.  I recently got a chance to touch base with Marcellas and find out more about what he's been up to and his new Style Network show.

You first appeared on the CBS show 'Big Brother' in Season 3. How has your life changed since being on the show?

Wow my life is sooo different than before. I think the biggest difference is how many people know me. Not a day goes by without someone saying "Hi Marcellas." And of course now I'm now on TV a lot. Big Brother really changed my life & the direction of my entertainment career.

Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation Receives $1 Million Dollar Donation In Honor of "The L Word" Stars Erin Daniels and Leisha Hailey

An anonymous donor has given a $1 million dollar gift to the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation in honor of Erin Daniels and Leisha Hailey, two of the stars of the hit Showtime series, "The L Word," for the realism and truth they brought to a breast cancer storyline that ended with the death of Erin Daniels' character, Dana Fairbanks. This is the largest private donation ever made to the Foundation.

"The donor, who has chosen to remain anonymous, wanted to honor the actresses for their compelling portrayal of a couple dealing with the tragic consequence of breast cancer," says the Foundation's Executive Director Naz Sykes. "Ultimately, she decided the best way to do that was to give a generous donation that would help us advance the work we are doing to end breast cancer in our lifetime."
