Alexis Arquette to Appear in VHI's Surreal Life 6
Transgender Visibility Comes to Reality Television

Actor Alexis Arquette will appear in the sixth season of the VH1 reality television show The Surreal Life. Alexis is well known for screen and stage performances.

Since a breakthrough role in Last Exit To Brooklyn in 1990, Alexis Arquette has been an active presence on the independent film scene. Alexis has demonstrated a broad rang of skills by playing such roles as the nervous sharp shooter who succumbs to John Travolta's bullet in Pulp Fiction and the singing drag diva Eva Destruction in Wigstock. Fans of the television show Zena, Warrior Princess will remember Caligula, the character Alexis played in season six.

Alexis comes from a talented and supportive family, which includes brother David Arquette whose film credits include Scream and the upcoming film Chlorine. Sister Patricia Arquette currently stars in the NBC drama Medium; and sister Rosanna Arquette has numerous film credits, but will always be rememberd for Desperately Seeking Susan.

Gender will certainly be a topic of conversation in the Surreal Life House. Last year, the A&E Network announced plans for a special documenting the gender transition of Alexis Arquette. The two hour show was to be directed by brother David Arquette. Contactmusic.com later reported that the plans had been scrapped out of concern that the gender transition would be sensationalized.

Sister Rosanna Arquette told Contactmusic.com: "It's really private and he's just making that decision in his life about what he wants to do. We all support him in what he wants to do and wouldn't want him to be involved in any circus act about it."

Surreal Life 6 is slated to begin March 19th. Housemates on the show include Sherman Helmsley (The Jeffersons), CC Deville (from the rock band Poison). Florence Henderson (The Brady Bunch) will also join the cast as an "in-house therapist/advisor."
