Robert Gant Stars in Comedy Short
'Billy's Dad is a Fudge-Packer' has been selected for the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. Made through the Power Up film production grant program, the movie was written and directed by first timer Jamie Donahue, and stars Robert Gant (Queer as Folk), Cady Huffman (The Producers -Tony Award Winner) and Alex Borstein (MAD TV).
A short film, this stylized comedy set in 1950's America explores the life of 'Billy' as his essay assignment causes him to take a look at the world around him. What will he be when he grows up? Does he want to be a policeman or a fireman? Or will Billy turn out to be a fudge-packer like his father?
Power Up is the only non-profit organization to develop, finance, produce and distribute films through its unique film grant program. Over 60 international and national awards have been garnered thus far for the POWER UP films.
Power Up members are women and men, gay and straight, who share a singular purpose - to promote diversity by supporting the mission. "We believe that by telling stories, we share our unique experiences and open doors to awareness and acceptance. We are challenging perception through film." POWER UP's executive director, Stacy Codikow stated.
